About Me
I'm Tom Nguyen, an IT professional
I am an entry-level IT support professional seeking opportunities in IT. I've recently completed Google's IT Support Professional Certificate on Coursera - a 6-month program that covers tech support, networking, operating systems, systems administration, and security, and includes hands-on labs for practical learning.
My journey into technology began early on, inspired by my brothers who introduced me to computers and video games. My family immigrated from Vietnam post-war, and it was because of the warm generosity of others that we were able to settle in the US. Due to their upbringing in a small town, my parents never had access to smartphones or computers. Motivated by this, I took the initiative to teach them how to use these devices.
Recently, I built my own PC, familiarizing myself with the CPU, RAM, graphics card, motherboard, and power supply. This experience has further fueled my passion for understanding and working with technology.
Skills: Computer hardware, software, Windows 10/11, Office 365, software troubleshooting, DNS, DHCP, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, SQL, Git, remote connection and virtual machines, computer networking, VPNs, resource monitoring, system administration, IT security
Technologies I use
I use many currently popular technologies such as HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Javascript, GitHub/Git, and SQL to build my applications. I have familiarized myself with each of these technologies so that when I am working on a project, I am ready to apply what I have learned.
I use HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap to build responsive websites. Bootstrap is one of my favorite technologies to use because of its simplicity.
Javascript is the language of the web. I have built a few applications mainly in JS.
Git is my go-to version control. I post all of my projects on GitHub. Check out my source code.
SQL is the language of the database. I have used pgAdmin, the platform for PostgreSQL.
